The Jack Dempsey Days Boxing Festival is a one-day Pro-Am boxing event in Cripple Creek, Colorado, where William Harrison “Kid Blackie” Dempsey first fought under the name Jack Dempsey.
The afternoon features amateur bouts honoring Dempsey’s early “Kid Blackie” days — symbolizing the humble beginnings and fighting spirit of all developing boxers. The evening transitions into the pro card, titled “Kid Blackie No More,” marking the moment Dempsey became the fighter the world would remember — and reflecting the transformation many athletes make from amateurs to professionals today.
Hosted by the Kid Blackie Boxing Club, the festival celebrates boxing’s heritage, community, and the enduring path from the mines to the main event.
The event will take place in the ballroom.

We partner with the City of Durango and local businesses to host this, our 3rd annual Fourth of July weekend event, in historic Downtown Durango. This family-friendly event will showcase athletes and celebrate the rich culture and history of The Sweet Science in our area. To beat the heat, the first bell will ring in the evening. The action will take place on historic Main Ave, in front of the infamous Jack Dempsey mural. The high visibility and electricity of live boxing will be sure to draw a crowd of fight fans and Durango tourists alike. This is an important fundraiser for our club's scholarship fund. In only our third year, this show has become a highly-anticipated part of our town's Fourth of July weekend offerings! Plenty of seating, water, food, activities, and SHADE will ensure this is a highly-enjoyable day for athletes and families. We hope teams will stay and enjoy Fourth of July activities in Durango, including fireworks, a parade, and more!

This event marks the intersection of two powerful milestones. As the iconic Route 66 celebrates its 100th anniversary—a century defined by historic cities, roadside culture, and American nostalgia—the Chicago Youth Boxing Club celebrates 20 years of service to the community. For two decades, CYBC has uplifted young people through discipline, opportunity, and the power of boxing—and this celebration signals that we are only just beginning. In partnership with Boxing Out Negativity, CYBC will engage the entire city through the Route 66 Classic Car Festival and CYBC’s One Lawndale Boxing Show, showcasing some of the West Side’s most talented fighters. This is a celebration of community, legacy, and the roads that brought us here—and the future we’re building together.
